  • USA Wrestling Greco-Roman Program

    Greco-Roman

2024 was a big year as our Olympians battled in Paris at the Olympic Games. This quadrennium, our Greco-Roman team was able to qualify four athletes for the Games and represented the United States proudly on the world’s biggest stage.

The development teams had very positive showings at the U17 and U20 world championships. The U17 team claimed a gold and bronze medal, and a fifth place. A top eight performance is a sign that our young wrestlers are continuing to improve on the international level. The U20 team also had a strong performance at the world championships finishing with three total medals. Two silver medals and a bronze medal helped boost the team to a top six finish. Success at this level is a good indicator that our development teams are on the right track to eventually have success on the senior level as well.

The United States has great athletes who are hungry to succeed on the international stage. As our teams are able to continue to get more international training and competition experience, they will continue to improve. This is a bright spot for Greco-Roman wrestling in the United States.

Through your generous contributions and donations to our Greco-Roman wrestling program, our athletes will get more of the experiences and opportunities that will help fuel future success on the world and Olympic stage.

  • USA Wrestling Women's Freestyle Program

    Women's Freestyle

Team USA’s women’s freestyle team closed out the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with four medals: two gold, one silver, and one bronze, as well as a second-place team finish.

Amit Elor became the youngest U.S. Olympic gold medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games at the age of 20. She is also the only wrestler to win three World Championships in the same year (U20, U23 and Senior), which she achieved in both 2022 and 2023. She is the youngest Senior World champion in U.S. history, winning her first title at 18 years old. Elor now holds 10 World gold medals (all age groups).

Also capturing Olympic gold was Sarah Hildebrandt, at 50 kg. This is Sarah’s second Olympic medal, after claiming bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Helen Maroulis became the first U.S. woman to win three career Olympic wrestling medals, claiming the bronze medal at 57 kg. Helen was the first woman to win an Olympic medal for Team USA, earning gold in 2016. She also claimed bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Donate to the women’s freestyle program to help support our athletes in their quest to make history on the World and Olympic stage, and continue to promote the growth of women’s wrestling in the U.S for all ages.

  • USA Wrestling Men's Freestyle Program

    Men's Freestyle

The U.S. Men’s Freestyle World Team won its second World Team Championship in back-to-back years in Belgrade, Serbia. This marks the fifth team title in men’s freestyle history, as well as the first time the team has won back-to-back World Team Titles.

The USA men’s freestylers finished with seven medals, and qualified four weights for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. David Taylor (86 kg) added his fourth gold medal, while Vito Arujau (61 kg) and Zain Retherford (70 kg) claimed their first World gold medals. Kyle Dake captured silver at 74 kg, while Zahid Valencia (92 kg), Kyle Snyder (97 kg), and Mason Parris (125 kg) claimed bronze.

The United States must still qualify the 57 kg and 65 kg weight classes in men’s freestyle, and will have the opportunity at the Pan American Olympic Qualifier in Mexico and the World Olympic Qualifier in Turkey.

  • Living the Dream Medal Fund

The Living The Dream Medal Fund was created for the purpose of allowing the entire wrestling community to participate in celebrating and honoring the hard work of our champions. While we understand that no wrestling champion wrestles "for the money”, this Fund will send a strong message to our elite athletes that their glory is our collective glory and their hard work and dedication is appreciated.

U.S. World and Olympic team members are our ambassadors to the global wrestling community. The long journey from youth wrestler to an Olympic medalist requires determination, sweat, pain, time on the road in the gym and on the mats and struggling to be the best they can be. The few that prevail and win deserve our support.

The Living The Dream Medal Fund awards stipends for gold medal, silver medal, and bronze medal finishes at the World Championships and Olympic Games.

    MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAM
  • Greg Strobel Leadership Academy

Olympic dreams are realized over a lifetime of managing and developing values of Discipline, Accountability, Family, and A Lifetime of Good Habits.
After Greg’s passing, his family reached out to USA Wrestling Executive Director, Rich Bender. The goal was simple, keep Greg Strobel’s values alive in the hearts and minds of the USA Wrestling Community.
Since that day, the Greg Strobel Leadership Academy (GSLA) has worked with National Team Coaches and Athletes to determine “gaps” in athlete support with a focus on areas not traditionally covered by coaches and training staff.

Without taking time away from our national team coaches and key training schedules, GSLA makes additional resources and training opportunities available so that athletes can fill in performance gaps by reducing the “noise” that can cause stress and distractions.
